Focus
Our 11+ Creative Writing programme aims to nurture imagination, clarity, and expressive confidence. Lessons develop pupils’ ability to write with structure, flair, and precision, while encouraging independent thinking and original ideas. We prepare children for grammar school and independent school entrance exams, helping them enjoy the process of writing creatively and critically. Core skills such as planning, vocabulary development, style, tone, and editing are all covered, alongside enrichment activities that inspire pupils to explore language in depth.
Structure
Our 11+ Creative Writing programme is carefully structured to ensure steady, measurable progress. Pupils complete pre-work designed to spark ideas, build vocabulary, and introduce themes ahead of each lesson. In-class sessions focus on planning, drafting, peer review, and refining written work, with expert guidance and strategies to develop clarity, style, and creativity. Homework reinforces learning and encourages independent practice, while high-quality texts from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries provide inspiration and examples of effective writing.
