Focus
Our 11+ Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar programme builds accuracy, confidence, and control in written English. Lessons develop a strong understanding of grammar rules, sentence structure, and punctuation while improving spelling patterns and vocabulary use. We prepare pupils thoroughly for grammar and independent school entrance exams, ensuring they can apply their knowledge effectively under exam conditions. Alongside core skills, we also teach advanced techniques to improve clarity, style, and precision, helping pupils to write with confidence and sophistication
Structure
Our SPaG tuition is carefully structured to ensure consistent progress and strong results. Pupils complete targeted pre-work to introduce rules, patterns, and terminology ahead of each lesson. In-class sessions focus on direct teaching, guided practice, and exam-style questions to secure understanding and improve accuracy. Homework is set regularly to reinforce learning and identify gaps. Pupils work with a wide range of challenging examples and age-appropriate texts from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries to apply grammar in context. Ongoing feedback and assessment ensure pupils understand their mistakes and build lasting improvement.
