These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the provision of tutoring services and online educational materials by Helicon Project, a self-employed sole trader. By purchasing or booking services or materials, you agree to these Terms.
1. Services
Helicon Project provides:
One-to-one and group tutoring sessions for students aged 11–18
Online educational materials and resources
Free complimentary taster sessions where offered
All services are delivered online unless otherwise agreed.
2. Booking and Purchase
Tutoring services are sold in blocks of at least five sessions (excluding any free complimentary taster session).
Complimentary taster sessions may be offered at the discretion of Helicon Project and are not counted towards the minimum block.
Payment must be made in full prior to the first session of a block unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Online materials are sold individually or as part of a package and must be paid for before access is granted.
3. Cancellation and Rescheduling
Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice will be fully charged.
If Helicon Project cancels a session, a replacement session will be offered or a refund issued at the discretion of Helicon Project.
Refunds are only available in accordance with these Terms. Block payments are non-refundable once lessons have commenced, except in exceptional circumstances at the sole discretion of Helicon Project.
4. Student Conduct
Students are expected to maintain appropriate behaviour during sessions.
Parents/carers are encouraged to supervise online sessions where appropriate.
Helicon Project reserves the right to terminate a session or block of lessons if behaviour is deemed inappropriate or disruptive.
5. Access to Online Materials
Access to purchased online materials is personal and non-transferable.
Materials are provided for educational use only.
Copying, sharing, or distributing materials without written permission is prohibited.
6. Intellectual Property
All materials, lesson plans, and content remain the intellectual property of Helicon Project unless otherwise stated. They may not be reproduced, shared, or sold without prior written consent.
7. Liability
Helicon Project provides educational services with care and professionalism, but no guarantees are made regarding academic outcomes or examination results.
Helicon Project is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from the use of its services, except where liability cannot be excluded under UK law.
Services are provided under the laws of the United Kingdom, with Scottish law governing disputes where applicable.
8. Payment Terms
Payment must be made in full before sessions begin unless an alternative arrangement is agreed in writing.
Payment methods accepted will be specified at the time of booking.
Helicon Project reserves the right to suspend or terminate services if payment is not received on time.
9. Termination
Helicon Project may terminate services or refuse future bookings if:
a student or parent breaches these Terms
payment is not made
behaviour is inappropriate or unsafe
Any termination will be confirmed in writing, and refunds (if any) will be handled at the discretion of Helicon Project.
10. Changes to Terms
Helicon Project may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be published on the website and, where appropriate, communicated directly to clients.
